Love this, Pam! So affecting--as are the treeless streets. I walked down Grand Avenue yesterday and was shocked.

There's never a good time to lose trees, but it hurts even more because we're losing so much else.

I, too, am profoundly saddened by the loss of trees in the service of "progress," to the degree that I have to shut my door to drown out the sound of chainsaws. Trees are our cherished, sentient neighbors.
